Citizens are a superhuman race from Odisiris, defined not only by their advanced physiology and heightened abilities but also by the rigid Status system that governs their society. Their Status is visibly marked on their right hand, an indicator of their rank and privileges. The color of their blood further distinguishes them—First Status Citizens have the deepest blue blood, a sign of purity and power, while Second and Third Status Citizens possess lighter or mixed hues, often relegating them to lesser roles in society. The Status Mark enhances their abilities, acting as a conduit for their strength; without it, they become significantly weakened, almost powerless.
Their presence on Pyridian has shifted the dynamic of this alien world. They often forge strategic alliances—or wield their power unilaterally—to further their own goals, impacting the planet’s native species and political landscape.
Many Citizens discover that local conditions—harsh terrain, alien pathogens, and political hostilities—can weaken or challenge their Status-based dominance. Nevertheless, the core of their power remains, for the Status Mark boosts their natural gifts.
Still bound by the strict hierarchy of Odisiris, Citizens on Pyridian rarely adopt the factional allegiances common among native races. Instead, they remain loyal to their Status, whether serving as enforcers for the Octane Resistance, partnering with powerful Peltarck tribes, or conducting specialized research on indigenous species like the Echoes, Koracks, and Telquorkhans. However, there are rogue Citizens—especially Hybrids and the Gifted—who break away, aligning with outside forces or seeking their own advantage in Pyridian’s tumultuous climate.
Unique Traits
- Heightened Abilities: Citizens possess superhuman speed and precision, heightened by their unparalleled sensory perception.
- Status Mark: Every Citizen bears a Status Mark on their right hand, a symbol of their power. This mark amplifies their abilities, but without it, they risk becoming weak and nearly powerless.
- First Status Transformations: Among Citizens, rare Hybrids exist, with some First Status Citizens able to transform into animals, reptiles, or insects, adding further diversity to their abilities.
Citizens do not belong to a faction because their society on Odisiris operates under a rigid Status-based hierarchy, rather than the factional warfare seen in other civilizations like Narrigh. Unlike the races of the Furnace and the Storm, which are divided by their allegiances, Citizens are governed by a centralized authority—the Parliamentary Elite and the Shardner government—which dictates their roles and positions based on their Status Mark and blood color.
Their allegiance is first and foremost to their Status. First Status Citizens hold the most power, often serving in high-ranking government, military, or scientific positions, while Second and Third Status Citizens are assigned lesser roles, ranging from security forces to engineers. While Citizens may serve in different professions—such as Sentinels, Assassins, or Scientists—they do so under the structure of Odisiris, not as part of a faction with independent goals.
Additionally, Citizens see themselves as superior to other races, especially those from Pyridian or Narrigh. They do not feel the need to organize into warring factions because they believe their technology, governance, and genetic enhancements place them above such primitive conflicts. Instead, they maintain order through structured rule, strict laws, and, when necessary, military intervention. However, certain rogue Citizens, particularly Hybrids or those with unique abilities such at the Gifted (Technopaths and Dream Emissaries), may operate outside this system, sometimes aligning themselves with external factions—but these are exceptions rather than the rule.
Crafts
Citizens are masters of engineering and technological innovation, forging the backbone of Odisiris’s advanced society. Their expertise spans across cybernetics, energy manipulation, and weaponized technology, allowing them to create highly sophisticated tools, armor, and weaponry that surpass anything found in other worlds. From laser-based weaponry and energy armor to intelligent droids and neurorobotics, Citizens push the boundaries of science, often integrating technology directly into their physiology. Their cities are built on the fusion of bioengineering and artificial intelligence, ensuring that progress is not just a pursuit but a way of life.
